If Steven Soderbergh's "Contagion" is the understated thinking man's blockbuster then South Korea's "The Flu" is a full-blown disaster movie with any sort of subtelty, nuance and style brutally sacrificed in favor of over-the-top drama, major setpieces, shaky camerawork and frenzied editing. I mean, this film starts with a scene of the 2 leads dangling on a cable over a ventilation shaft while a car plummets down crashing and bouncing off of girders on its way down. That's what you should expect from the entire movie.
